National Meditation Specialist Certification Board

Recertification Process

RENEWAL

Certifications must be renewed every 3 years to be considered Active Status. ( Non renewals will be put on the INACTIVE list  for only 12 months at which they must re-active or Lapse) Inactive status does not give permission to use meditation specialist credentials nor to receive any discounts on products or trainings.

Renewal applications are due at least 1 month before your certification expiration date.

Meditation Specialist I (MSI-BC) indicates 300 hr. training course or equivalent;  plus, satisfactory completion of written exam and practical exam . Renewal of certification consists of 150 hours over a period of 3 years for renewal  Renewal cost: $ 200

Clinical Meditation Specialist II (CMSII-BC) indicates initial 300 hrs. training (level 1) or equivalent,  plus an additional 240 hrs. of clinical contact, teaching and practice over a period of 3 years.  Renewal cost:  $ 225

Advanced Practice Meditation Specialist  III (APMSIII-BC) indicates  Advanced Practice 500 hrs of clinical practice and teaching contact beyond level II, over a period of 3 years. Renewal cost:  $250

IMPORTANT NOTICE

NMSCB frequently encounters difficulty communicating with Specialists due to changes in home addresses, telephones, employment sites,  and/or email addresses. Specialists are responsible for notifying NMSCB of any change in name, address, email or telephone number.  The Center for Meditation Science at www.DrSusanTaylor.com and NMSCB at nmscb.org are independent organizations; you must notify both to maintain current profiles. Thank you for your assistance with this important matter.

 RE-CERTIFICATION REQUIRES that the Meditation Specialist Adhere to the Code of Ethics as well as

    •Continue to be in good standing in their work environment;

    •Be in active practice in Meditation; and

    •Provide documentation of active learning through continuing education as described below.

    Successful completion of  specified contact hours (see above for level of certification)  of Continuing Education in Alternative and Complementary medicine and/or Meditation within the three years period preceding the date of expiration of the certification period.   At least twenty percent (40%) of the contact hours must directly address Evidence - based meditation practices.  The remaining contact hours can be related to alternative and complementary methods of practice; studies that facilitate self-care and growth; and transformation within a holistic context. Alternative options for Continuing Education Units can be considered by the Board.

   The contact hours must be approved by a licensing board, credentialing body, educational institution or other qualified individual or organization.  Appropriate documentation of continued education (such as certificates of completion) must be submitted with application for Recertification.

    Re-certification Documentation

    Re-certification requires submission of several documents no later than 60 days prior to certification expiration. These include:

    1)    Re-certification Application form,  Document

    2)    CE documentation record form  Document

    3)    Recertification fee (see above for fee applicable to level of renewal certification requested)

   Failure to submit a complete packet within 60 days prior to Certification Expiration Date results in a late fee of $35.00 . Individuals submitting a Re-certification Packet within 90 days after expiration of their Certification are required to pay a late fee of $100.00.

   Inactive participants are required to pay an additional $25 in addition to renewal fees and criteria to become active.

    Packets submitted more than 90 days post certification expiration are not accepted.  They are put into inactive status and are required to sit for board certification again if inactive status exceeds one year.  Appeals for exceptions require NMS Board review and will be considered only once in the Certificates lifetime.
